IFPE 2011: Call for Papers Issued for National Conference on Fluid Power
International Design and Engineering Forum to be held with show

Engineers, researchers, and educators from around the world are invited to submit papers for the 52nd National Conference on Fluid Power (NCFP). The abstract submission deadline is June 4, 2010; details and an entry form are online at www.ifpe.com in the Education section. Proceedings will be published and available at the conference and after the show.

The NCFP will be held in conjunction with IFPE 2011, set for March 22-26, 2011 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The conference emphasizes new technologies and methods related to improved analysis, design, manufacture, and performance of fluid power components and systems for mobile and industrial markets.

Topic areas for conference papers are: fluids (including new and "green"); fluid power systems; basic components; auxiliary components related to fluid power; analysis, modeling and simulation; noise and vibration (analysis, measurement, control); materials and manufacturing (including new and "green"); and standards.

IFPE is the leading international exposition and technical conference dedicated to the integration of fluid power with other technologies for power transmission and motion control applications. It is geared to the global needs of engineers and other decision-makers involved in design and manufacturing processes.

"The NCFP exemplifies the IFPE theme of 'moving innovation forward' and brings additional value to show attendees. In one place they can tap the knowledge of international experts at the conference and examine the latest technological innovations on the show floor," stated Melissa Magestro, IFPE show director.

NFPA Education and Technology Foundation Awards $5,000 Gift

The NFPA Education and Technology Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that a $5,000 gift has been awarded to the University of Illinois at Chicago to support a new project that begins in January 2010. The Instruction Test Bench for Energy Efficient Electrohydraulic Systems with Independent Metering Valves project is being headed up by Professor Sabri Centinkunt.

In addition to strengthening ties between individual researchers and industry, NFPA’s gift program seeks to stimulate interest in fluid power on campuses across the country and attract some of the best and brightest students to the field. The program also seeks to provide world-class university research on pre-competitive problems of wide interest to the fluid power industry.

Detailed information regarding the grant and gift programs can be found at http://www.nfpa.com/Education/Edu_NFPAETF_Activities.asp.
